A new documentary film, Freakscene – The Story of Dinosaur Jr, traces the career of frontman J Mascis, bassist Lou Barlow and drummer Murph, portraying a group of cult icons without whom modern rock would be very different.
The film captures the trio’s first-hand accounts of their 37-year roller coaster career, as director Philipp Reichenheim takes you through archive footage from concerts and music videos, plus all-new interviews. It’s not just the band members who help tell the story – some of their famous peers and fans also appear, including Kim Gordon, Henry Rollins, Bob Mold, and Thurston Moore.
