Ozzy Osbourne’s daughter injured in fatal recording studio fire

(KTLA) — One person was killed and two others injured, including Ozzy Osbourne’s daughter, when a fire ripped through an apartment building in Hollywood, Calif., on Thursday night.

The fire first broke out around 6:35 p.m. in an industrial building.

Firefighters arrived to find smoke billowing from a two-story concrete building. According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, 78 firefighters battled the blaze and were able to extinguish the flames in about 51 minutes.

When firefighters searched the structure, they found a dead person inside the building. The identity of this person was not immediately revealed.

Two people at the scene complained of respiratory problems related to smoke exposure and were treated and released at the scene, firefighters said.

Sharon Osbourne, TV personality and wife of legendary rocker Ozzy Osbourne, posted about the fire on her Instagram page. In her post, she said the couple’s daughter, Aimee Osbourne, was in the building at the time and working in a recording studio.

Osbourne’s daughter was one of two who made it out alive, according to the talk show host and reality TV star.

“It is truly heartbreaking that someone lost their life today in this fire and we send our prayers to this person and their family,” Sharon Osbourne said on Instagram. “What happened today was beyond horrible.”

Sharon Osbourne has described the building as “a creative center for music in Hollywood. “While offering condolences for the life lost and musical equipment destroyed in the fire, she criticized what she believed to be a lack of fire safety and regulations in the building.

“I really hope that in the future, buildings like this will be better regulated when it comes to fire safety,” his message read. She said the space “should have been regulated for the fire code.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation. It is not known at this time whether the building was in fact up to code or not.
