Table Rock Lake is the setting for a new music video, which was released this week with Nashville recording artist Chelsey James.

James’ new single “Must’ve Been Drunk,” was recently released and was quickly followed by the song’s new music video debut on Wednesday, July 21. James, from Missouri, said as soon as they wrote the song she knew she wanted to do something at Table Rock Lake.

“I knew this was going to be a really fun summer song and I was like, ‘You know what, my last two videos were pretty complex and my next upcoming video is going to be heavy so I just need to a fun, simple song hanging out at the lake clip, “James said.” I kind of took it from Carrie Underwood’s ‘Southbound’ clip. They literally spent a day at the lake and had cameras there and I was like, “Oh my God, that would be so much fun.”

For the clip, James said she teamed up with a friend who has a houseboat on Table Rock Lake.

“We all piled onto the barge and just filmed ourselves having a good time,” James said. “We just circled the Kimberling City Bridge and just filmed on the water there, then we filmed a bit back on the dock. Everything was filmed at Table Rock so it was great fun.

Although they had a great time shooting the video, James said like any production there are challenges.

“Backstage music videos are always harder than they seem, but when you’re trying to get all of this people and gear on a boat, it’s even harder. While my film crew probably knew it would be difficult, they didn’t share it with me because they wanted us to have fun, ”James said. “Here I’m thinking, ‘Oh guys, this will be easy. I forgot that they had to attach a 65 pound camera to their body and the boat was constantly moving whether you were anchored or not. I think they had a pretty good training that day.

James added that she also did all of her own stunts during the production of the video.

“It’s probably pretty dangerous, but it was good. You have to do what you have to do for the job. I actually got up on the roof while the boat was moving and did some lip-sync shots, ”said James. “There were a few moments where I almost fell, but it’s okay. We survived. There were certainly some difficulties that you don’t encounter on a regular floor set. Kudos to my camera crew for successfully taking these shots on a moving boat. “

As a former resident of Ozark, Missouri, James said it was really special to have the scenic views of the state featured in the clip.

“It went well and I’m so excited people are seeing it. We just wanted a little more of a simple, casual video, ”said James. “I was happy to be able to do something like this. It was really worth it. They flew the drones, of course, over the boat and the lake. I am truly delighted to have Missouri depicted and such a Missouri landmark depicted in one of my videos.

While “Must’ve Been Drunk is technically a breakup song and not the type of song she would normally pursue, James said that was one of the reasons she loved it so much.

“I tend to lean more towards the more cheeky Carrie Underwood ‘Before He Cheats’ attitude. This song, I love because of the way we turned a breakup song into something a little more humorous and light. It’s more of a song “Made a error, allright moving on”; instead of a sadder, more depressing theme. The song’s tagline is ‘I must have been drunk when I fell in love with you’, “she said.” It’s just a funnier way of talking about a breakup. I think it is. “It’s more of a breakout song that empowers. Even if you don’t listen to the lyrics as much, the music is really fun to listen to.”

Since graduating from college at Drury in Springfield, James has spent a lot of time traveling to Nashville for shows and recording sessions. When not in Tennessee or traveling elsewhere, James said she was at his farm in Seymour.

“I love Missouri. I was brought up here. My whole family is from Missouri. I have a long line of Missourians in my family who have all stayed here, which I love. I just have a big family and we have all managed to stay close, ”said James. “I never see myself leaving here for good. It’s just a great place to grow up and raise a family. I like to say it’s one of the prettiest states in the country, but I’m probably a little biased.

As she continues to develop her career in music, James said her goal is to always keep Missouri close.

“I actually shot my first music video, ‘Hands on the Bible’ here at Seymour on the farm. Now I guess I have two videos with links to Missouri, ”James said. “I want this to be part of my brand, being a girl from Missouri. I will continue to do this as much as I can in all of my songs, videos and whatever I do.
