“’Redeemer’ is not just a remake that I chose to do, ‘Redeemer’ is my testimony,” says Karima. “God truly restores. He is my Redeemer. I get emotional just thinking about it. I know my Redeemer lives. The fact that I can share this song at this level is a living testimony to its fidelity. “

“Redeemer” is Karima’s update of the international gospel mega-hit, originally written and performed by Nicole C. Mullen. The magnificent rendition of Karima is produced by Aaron Lindsey, a Grammy, Dove and Stellar Award winning artist, producer, composer, arranger and musician.

“I just want to cheer on those who feel lost and feel like they can’t go on and no one sees them,” Karima said of the song. “We serve a resurrected Savior who is so powerful. All we have to do is believe. He wants to be your Redeemer if you let him.

Best known as the founder and member of the award-winning contemporary gospel trio Virtue, Karima’s moving soprano is already familiar to fans of urban and contemporary gospel and Christianity markets. After some time as an active mother and entrepreneur, Karima felt the call to sing again. Focusing daily prayers on this goal, the talented singer-songwriter was quickly contacted by none other than Michael-Anthony Taylor, CEO of DARE Records, asking if she was interested in recording as an artist. solo. Within months, she was signed to the label.

Joining DARE Records also reunites Karima with the musical executives who previously worked with her former band, Virtue. Taylor had been working on a remix of Virtue’s hit single “Good”, while current DARE Records President Tara Griggs-Magee was the executive who signed Virtue on their first recording deal.

Born and raised in New Orleans, Karima Trotter began singing in church with her sisters. While attending Oakwood University in Huntsville, AL, she was called to form a vocal group for a weekly worship service that received wide attention. The band eventually caught the attention of Griggs-Magee, who signed the band Virtue to Verity Records. Members have evolved to include Karima and her sisters Ebony Holland and Heather Martin.

Karima eventually recorded seven studio albums with Virtue, including their self-titled debut album, Virtue (1997), Be ready (1999), Virtuosity (2001), Dove Award album To free (2003), Just the tubes (a compilation album, 2004), Grammy nominee Testimony (2006), Testimonial Reloaded (2015) and Intrepid (2016).
