Carlisle City Council receives plans for new garage and recording studio

PLANS have been submitted for the demolition and redevelopment of a stone garage into a recording studio.

Carlisle City Council has received an application for a building permit to build an office and recording studio in place of a stone garage in Bush Nook.

Gilsland Farm is currently used as a guest room alongside domestic accommodation.

Mr. Kirby, the Applicant stated in their Design and Access Statement: “The existing garage block is stone and is currently in need of intervention, consolidation and repair. The existing garage block is not suitable for above the access door.

“The block is almost detached and currently only connected to an obsolete pigsty. The garage is located in the middle of the farm surrounded by the other buildings. The garage is currently used for general storage and has no other current use.”

“Serious consideration” has been given to the appearance of the new construction at the design stage to ensure that it fits into the farm environment.
