Billie Eilish doesn’t like being in a recording studio.
The 20-year-old pop star has so far released hit albums ‘HappierThan Ever’ and ‘When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?’ but admitted she is often “embarrassed” when using a studio to record because she finds herself bumping into other artists.
She said: “I don’t like studios. I don’t like sessions. I don’t like (that) there is a runner and he asks you what kind of food you want at such and such and he asks you if you want a LaCroix.
“I really never liked the atmosphere of the studios. There are no windows. It smells like weed. There are other artists there, you pass them, you look stupid “Then you’re embarrassed that they see you when you looked stupid. I don’t know, it freaks me out. It really gives me social anxiety.”
Meanwhile, the ‘wicked’ hitmaker – who often collaborates with her producer brother FINNEAS on her music – explained that she had ‘no idea’ what was to come career-wise but didn’t like not the idea of working with a lot of people and joked that his brother is “so boring” because he is a workaholic.
Speaking to Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, she added: “‘I have no idea what’s to come,’ she mused. it feels like we’re all going to be the same forever, forever, and that’s just not realistic. I worked with a lot of people for a few years, and I really didn’t like it, honestly. I do not do it. FINNEASE is so boring. FINNEAS can work at any time. The guy has no respite in himself, he doesn’t need it. For me, I go through phases where I feel really creative and really do things, and then I go through phases of nothing at all, musically.”
