A man was shot and killed as he exited a recording studio in Queens, New York early Monday morning.

The Newyork City Police Department responded to a 911 call about a fatality in Ridgewood, Queens shortly before 1:30 a.m., according to the NYPD. They discovered a 21-year-old man, whose name has not been identified, who had been shot in the head when they arrived.

He was declared dead by paramedics who arrived at the scene. No weapons were recovered and no arrests were made.

According to witnesses, a succession of gunshots was heard at this time.

“We were just coming out of the subway when we heard six gunshots, another person said the surroundings had become dangerous.

“I’m scared. I live two blocks away in this neighborhood, and it’s not safe. It happens all the time,” she said.

Despite the continuing crime wave in New York, gun violence has actually decreased, according to NYPD figures released last week.

As of Friday, there were 171 homicides in 2022, down from 188 in the same period last year. Shootings have also fallen from 588 in 2021 to 502 this year.
